The Look: Dior designer and creative director Raf Simons showed another stellar collection in Paris last week during Paris Fashion Week Spring 2014. He titled the collection "Trans Dior", shown in a flora-filled stage.







Simons continues his aim to take the House of Dior and its codes to a new level; he showed a bifurcated Bar jacket that launched the show, as well as badges and insignia--the emblems of clubs,
gangs, tribes, youth cults. This was a "Modern Dior". Colorful, chic, asymmetrical, classic, elegant and yes, modern. He ended the show with a final parade of strapless silver
jacquard dresses as well as black suits.

Colors: Ocean blue, silver-blue, ivory, black, rose pink, orange red, abstract flower prints

Trends: Pleats, asymmetrical hems, black suiting, one shoulder, strapless Watteau-backed cocktail dresses, "twisted" shirt dresses

The Look: Dsquared2 designers Dean and Dan Caten Spring 2014 collection was all about a fab tiki lounge, Hawaii in the 50s, think a Vegas Pool Party with Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Elvis playing in the background with a bevy of beauties looking perfectly done, big hair, big sunglasses, big hats and perfect Amazonian figures...oh, and yes, the perfect ensembles. Lots of strapless corsets worn over panties (for real life, wear with super-skinny jeans or a black super-fitted pencil skirt).

Colors: Canary yellow, orange, bright coral, pink, vivid blue, apricot, ivory

Trends: Hourglass, Corseting, Watteau backs, full dresses, fitted shapes, nipped-in waists, Va-Va Voom, very shorty-shorts, lampshade hats, cat-eye sunglasses, BIG earrings, embellishment, 50s shapes

Karl Lagerfeld showed his vision for Chanel Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2013/2014 this past week. The Grand Palais was transformed into a derelict theater; run down, damaged. But in the background, a sight of a futuristic metropolis. 








The Look: "Brave New World" meets "Mad Max" Couture. Boxy suitings; luxe boucle with a low-slung waist belt detail. Almost every look had this wide belt accent. Also; hats. All about hats. In terms of details, the silhouette was low-slung, 20's/30's, rounded shoulders, flange shoulders, a-line skirts. Lots of styles for his UBER RICH clientele to drool over.
